AUDIO: Zack Reed wins primary by landslide

(Cleveland) It's been a year full of ups and downs for Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed following a drunk driving arrest in March.

Reed was convicted of his third O.V.I. and last week was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 60 days on an alcohol monitoring bracelet.

In Tuesday night's primary election, the voters of Ward 2 overwhelmingly approved Reed for re-election, with 904 votes for Reed, coming in second place was Marcus Henley with just 85 votes.

Reed told WTAM 1100 it meant a lot to him that the voters want him to continue to represent them, as he's done for the past 13 years.

Reed said "What they said is Councilman, don't look down, don't look back, and understand that we all make mistakes".

Reed says he's going to continue to do those things he needs to do legally, which means a 10 day jail sentence beginning on September 25th. Reed is also working with the Cleveland Clinic to overcome his addiction to alcohol.

Reed still has to win the general election in November, but considers the primary win a big hurdle that was overcome and says now he knows he has the confidence of the people to continue the job that he started.
