Early voting underway in Ohio

(Cleveland) — Ohioans can start voting for contenders in the May 6 primary.

Early voting begins Tuesday in the state. In-person voting hours are mostly from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in all 88 counties. Voters also get the Saturday before Election Day to cast a ballot.

Contests include races for congressional and state legislative seats. Ohio voters also will decide whether to renew a public works program that funds improvements to roadways, bridges and other local infrastructure needs.

Two Democrats are competing to face Republican Gov. John Kasich this fall. Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, the endorsed Democrat, has campaigned for months to be the party's nominee. Democrat Larry Ealy also is seeking the office.

FitzGerald and his running mate planned to cast their ballots on Tuesday.
