Innerbelt Bridge demolition moves forward

(Cleveland) - Work continues on the demolition of the old Innnerbelt Bridge.

ODOT District 12 spokeswoman Jocelynn Clemings says crews are dismantling the concrete around the bridge, and have made a great deal of progress so far. Many are working in 12 hour shifts.

Clemings says the best vantage point to watch deconstruction is in the Tremont neighborhood near Sokolowski's University Inn. At its peak, Clemings says 500 workers will be on site during peak activity.

At some point during the summer only the steel frame will remain and Clemings tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that will they will implode the shell. She says the time and date will be announced for a public viewing of the event.

After the implosion and removal of debris, construction of the second Innerbelt Bridge will begin with completion set for 2016.
