(Cleveland) With the winter months closing in, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has outlined a plan to further support the Department of Veteran's Affairs' goal of eliminating veteran homelessness by 2015.
While significant progress has been made, many hurdles still exist for chronically homeless vetrans needing housing. Brown, a senior member of U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, will outline how "The Homeless Veterans Prevention Act" would improve prevention programs by developing public-private partnerships focused on increasing the availability of legal services to homeless veterans; expand transitional housing opportunities to include increased resources and eligibility for female veterans and veterans with dependants; and increase existing programs.
