Training Camp Notes Day 1

Browns Training Camp is here and excitement was definitely in the air on day 1. Here are a few notes from the day.

-2,692 fans attended the first day of camp here in Berea. They were loud and Coach Chudzinski was seen walking up to a few of the fans and getting them pumped up as they were barking and hollering.

-It’s obvious that Chudzinski is fired up to be back here coaching his home team as he mentioned more than once after practice the excitement that his team felt from the fans.

-Owner Jimmy Haslam spoke to the media prior to practice and seemed genuine when he was asked if the team would be sold because of his issues with his other company. He stated that his two goals are to fix the issues that they have had at Flyin Private J and to bring a winner to Cleveland.

-Haslam also commented on if they were going to try and sell the team they wouldn’t have committed so much money into the team, whether it be the free agent spending or the money that he has spent to renovate the facility, that some have totaled to equal 6 million dollars.

-Defensive tackle Phil Taylor sat out practice as he has a calf strain. He’s day to day and Coach Chud didn’t seem very concerned about the injury.

-There was a bit of a scrum about halfway thru practice that had Joe Thomas in the middle of it. Chudzinski didn’t seem to mind it as he stated its training camp, but as Brandon Weeden said, its fine today but it’s not something Chud will like if it continues.

-Josh Gordon came up lame late during practice with what was called cramps. Gordon has changed his number 12, that he wore in college and is tattooed on his back.

-Greg Little had a different look as well as he’s wearing number 18, after Davone Bess “talked” Little into a change of numbers w a little financial nudge. Bess has the number 15 tattooed on him. Little wore the number 8 in college.

-Jim Brown, who is back with team, spoke to the team prior to practice, as he had Trent Richardson stand in front of the team to address the team with him. He told Richardson that he no longer sees him as an ordinary running back.

-Richardson looks quicker than ever and says he’s completely healthy. He came to camp at 225, after coming to camp last year at 230. He says he has a ton to prove despite Jim Brown giving him a compliment prior to practice.
