AUDIO: Brantley holds press conference after signing extension

(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) – Michael Brantley is a core piece for the Cleveland Indians, on Thursday they proved it.

Brantley signed a four-year, $25 million contract which includes a club option for the 2018 season. The deal was reported on Monday evening, but the club made it official on Thursday morning.

Brantley, 26, has spent his entire five-year Major League career with the Tribe since being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers as the “player to be named later” in the C.C. Sabathia trade back in 2008.

Along with Brantley, Indians general manager Chris Antonetti held a press conference to talk about the contract extension.

Brantley owns a career batting average of .277 to go along with 100 doubles, 14 triples, 26 HRs and 212 RBIs in a total of 514 games.
