Tribe hires Langbehn as new replay coordinator

(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) – With new rules for replay expansion being introduced this upcoming season, the Cleveland Indians are taking the appropriate steps to stay on top of potential video reviews.

On Tuesday the Indians introduced Gregg Langbehn as their new Major League Replay Coordinator. The hiring came on the heels of expanded replay being instituted for the 2014 season.

Langbehn, 43, spent eight years in the Minor Leagues as a pitcher with the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. Following his playing career Langbehn coached and managed in the Houston Astros organization from 2001-2008.

Recently Langbehn spent time managing the Traverse City Beach Bums in the Independent Frontier League.

Langbehn interviewed for the job with Indians manager Terry Francona and team general manager Chris Antonetti.

According to Francona, Langbehn will be inside the Indians clubhouse during games with video equipment watching game and will be able to communicate with the dugout via phone similar to the bullpen.
